National Convention:
How to Get There
Be part of the historic process to select the 2012
Presidential nominee, heed the call to action and
elect candidates who support the Democratic
agenda.
From Precinct Caucus to National Convention
The 46th Democratic National
Convention will be held in Charlotte,
North Carolina the week of September
3rd, 2012. At the Convention, delegates
from all around the country will join
together to voice their opinion and vote
for their choice for the Democratic
Presidential ticket for the 2012 election.
Precinct Caucus
The process starts at your Precinct Caucus,
goes to the county level, the state level.
The Precinct Caucus allows Democrats in
your community to decide who they want
to be the nominee for president.
If you want to go to Charlotte, here’s
what you will have to do:

Be a registered Democrat in Nebraska.
•
Fill out the Delegate and Alternate
Statement of Candidacy which will be
available on April 1, 2012 from
www.NebraskaDemocrats.org.
•
You must turn in the completed
application to the State Party by 5PM CT
on May 25th, 2012.
•
Attend the Precinct Caucus on April 14th,
2012 and get elected by others in your
precinct to be a delegate to your County
Convention based on who you support for
President.
•
If elected a delegate, you must attend
your County Convention which will be
held between June 1st and June 10th,
depending on your county. You may
contact your county Democratic Party
Chair for more information about the
County Convention.
•
At the County Convention, you must be
elected by the delegates to State Convention
on June 23rd, 2012.
Nebraska State Convention
The State Convention will be a two day
meeting in Omaha designed to help people
meet other other passionate Democrats
and elect delegates to the National
Convention in Charlotte in order to support
their candidate for President. Delegates and
at-large delegates will be elected from each
district based on their home county.
Following these steps will ensure that you
are eligible to represent Nebraska on the
national stage in Charlotte!
Please note that delegates and alternates to the Democratic National Convention are responsible for providing their own transportation, lodging and meal costs.
The Nebraka Democratic Party is not responsible for providing delegates and alternates with transportation and lodging for the 2012 Convention in Charlotte, NC.
