The Sarpy County Democrats will hold their 11th Annual Legacy Celebration on Sunday, August 2nd at 5 pm. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event will be held remotely instead of the usual physical dinner. The title of this year’s program is “A Salute to Senator Ron Withem.” The evening will be a celebration of the career and accolades of Senator Withem, who represented Sarpy’s own Legislative District 14 from 1983-1997.  Withem also served as the Speaker of the Legislature for Nebraska’s Unicameral from 1993-1997.  Senator Bob Kerrey will be providing a keynote celebrating Withem’s industrious career and the rich history of Democratic politics within the state of Nebraska and Sarpy County. In addition, the evening will be a celebration of the volunteers whose contributions have positively impacted Sarpy County throughout the past year. Awards will be given to each of the celebrated recipients.
