ENGAGING OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS

To be timely, one needs to follow the news.

Sample script:

I’m calling to ask  Senator Fischer/ Sasse to oppose the appointment of so and so to the cabinet position of______________ because he/she does not represent American values as demonstrated by____ name the behavior(s).

Most often the staffer will ask you your name and maybe address or just city. They will not give you any information only take information. Typically, one will get a standard letter with a canned response related to the topic one called about.

The process itself feels quite unsatisfactory.  However, tallies are kept and reported to the Senator/Representative.  Do it every day. in other words, let them know you know what is going on and demand action.  (Fischer supports Trump.  Sasse has been anti Trump from the beginning. Fischer claims to represent her constituents.  Sasse wants to run for President in 2020.)
